Former FIFA's best player, Fabio Cannavaro will leave the club Al Ahli. The Italian chose resigned after the club decided to bring in players from Chile, Luis Jimenez.
Jimenez is the third foreign legion recruited by Al Alhi. Two previous players come from Brazil, namely Grafite and Jaja.
As reported by Goal.com, Thursday, June 30, 2011, the UAE Pro League rules state that each team is allowed only a maximum of four foreign legion. One of them should come from Asia.
This rule makes Cannvaro automatically thrown from Al Ahli squad with the inclusion of Jimenez. However, Al Ahli had initially embarrassed to tell about the future of 37-year-old players.
Executive Chairman Al Ahli, Ahmed Khalifa told Sport360 said last week it even if Cannavaro is still safe position at the club. "Fabio Cannavaro is not going anywhere," said Ahmed.
"I do not know where this report originated, but only that she still has another year on his contract and he (Fabio Cannavaro) still hoped to remain at this club," continued Ahmed.
But last weekend Ahmed attitude began to open. Ahmed even openly told Gulf News revealed his team's decision to bring two new players Brazilian Grafite and Jaja.
"We have signed contracts with two Brazilian players (Grafite and Jaja) and will recruit two foreign players again. One comes from outside Asia and one from Asia," he said.
Cannavaro who is reportedly close to the campaign team QPR have been featured as many as 16 games with Al Ahli in the 2010-2011 season. The team was only able to finish at number eight UAE Pro League standings. (Eh) • VIVAnews
