A spokesman for the nursing home where Valentim residence stating grandmother died of complications of multiple organ disease. On July 9, originally Valentim even 115 years old.
The Guinness World Records website, Valentim could say, "The first time Brazil has a woman who holds the Guinness World Record," he said as quoted by the pages of The Telegraph.
On 18 May, Guinness determined that Valentim, 48 days older than women who had previously considered the oldest man in the world, Besse Cooper from Monroe, Georgia, United States.
"Death of Valentim create the world's oldest women's record held back Besse," said Guinness.
Daughter Bess, Sid Cooper, said Tuesday before the last breath, Valentim looks fine in a retirement community in Monroe.
"He has great weight, because he's eating healthy foods," said Sid Cooper.
"His memory is still very good," he added. "He remembers things from the past and still get to know a lot of people."
Guinness verifies that Valentim was born on July 9, 1896, in the city Carangola in southeastern Minas Gerais state. He lived there all his life.
Last month, Guinness said on its website that Valentim, known as "Grandma Quita", attributed her longevity to healthy eating. He often ate bread every morning with coffee, fruit and milk occasionally with linseed.
Family Valentim told reporters that he has a stubborn nature and always take care of business themselves. They also said that his father could feel the pleasure of living to age 100.
"He told me the secret of longevity is to always keep her own life, and does not interfere with others' lives," said his granddaughter Jane Ribeiro Moraes, 63, in a local newspaper in May.
Valentim was married to her husband, Joao, in 1913. Her husband died first in 1946. He has four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five children from his great-grandson. Only child died at the age of 75 years in the early 1990s.
