Egyptian authorities have declared a group of militant extremists blew up a pipeline terminal on Egypt's leading natural gas to Israel, in the northern Sinai peninsula.

The officers claimed that the attack Saturday, July 30, 2011 is directed to the terminal at al-Shulaq and destroy the last terminal before it entered the gas pipeline under the sea, heading to Israel.

The attack itself is the third attack against the natural gas pipeline in the past month, and is the fifth attack for 18 days since the upheaval that ousted President Hosni Mubarak, last February.

Although no one has claimed responsibility, authorities accused the group of Bedouin militants were behind the attacks. For information, these groups and the Egyptian security personnel have been fighting on Friday, July 29, killing five people.

There has been no official statement from the Egyptian government, and a spokesman for delivering such information in the condition of anonymity because they did not have the authority to convey the information directly on the media. (Associated Press)
